It appears that rpc.idmapd is not included in the install image. That makes it hard to use NFSv4 (with a newer server it isn't impossible, but SL11SP3 isn't quite new enough). So rpc.idmapd needs to be added to the install image, and something needs to be done to start it running. I note the regular /etc/init.d/nfs files isn't there at all.
