Dolphin always crashes when soft-linking, copying or moving a huge number of files (n x 10^3). For instance, 15 000 files, no matter if the files are tiny (e. g. 1 Mb each one). The same operations are able to be well done using ln, ln -s, cp, mv. This issue is present in openSuSE 11.3. See bug 669790. I do not remember whether openSuSE 11.2 has the same issue.
