Opensuse creates: <raid_name>/dev/md0</raid_name> <raid_options/> <raid_type>raid0</raid_type> from cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] [raid0] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [linear] md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdb1[1] 305220 blocks super 1.0 [2/2] [UU] bitmap: 0/10 pages [0KB], 16KB chunk So it creates a raid 0 from a raid 1 - which is fatally wrong!
