Kay, I have tested what you write in comment #64. But on RC1 udev apparently does watch for metadata changes even on DM devices (tested with LVM).
That's a temporary thing in the udisks rules, which are only available on GNOME installations.
So maybe removing the artificial "add" event from libstorage is the best way to fix this problem.
I still don't think so. As mentioned earlier, to remove one of many possible event sources makes the issue appear less frequently, but does not solve the underlying problem in any kind. Device mapper needs to cope with that behavior, we can not control all tools which issue these events, and there a quite a few more besides libstorage.
