http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506135 Summary: Cannot connect to wifi where SSID is hidden and the SSID contains '$' symbol Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rickert@cs.niu.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 I have been unable to connect to a network. The network is not under my control, though I can (and have) setup my own net to simulate the problem. The network uses WPA personal with TKIP. I have not had problems with other networks. In the network, the SSID contains the symbol '$' (which seems to be a part of the problem), and the SSID is not being broadcast. When I was using 10.1, I had no difficulty connecting to this network (with Network Manager handling it). Nothing I have tried works with 11.0 I have also tried configuring this network with Yast, or by directly editing the script "ifcfg-ath0". Neither works. Using an atheros card, and madwifi-0.9.4 is installed (compiled from source). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to connect to a network with '$' as part of the SSID, and hidden SSID. 2. 3. Actual Results: total failure. I get a "network disconnected" popup. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
