http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=611270 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=611270#c0 Summary: gobi_loader hangs (2.6.32 regression) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 7 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse@bugs.jan.ritzerfeld.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.10 According to, e.g., the gobi_loader homepage[0] there is a regression in the kernel used by M7 (since 2.6.32) that results in gobi_loader to hang[1]. Luckily, the homepage[0] provides a patch for kernels 2.6.32--34 that seem to work with Ubuntu[2] and is supposed to be included in Fedora 12. However, it only works partially for my Qualcomm Gobi 2000 and M7: * I have to add an include to qcserial.c for kzalloc (slab.h) * patched qcserial driver successfully creates the ttyUSB0 device while the unpatched M7 kernel does not * but gobi_loader 0.5 still hangs IMHO these patches were committed to head on May 20th [4][5][6][7] but I am not a kernel hacker.
