https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483176 Summary: No sound support in StarDict with default GNOME environment settings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: iogurt_forever@bk.ru QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; ru; rv:1.9.1b2) Gecko/20081208 SUSE/3.1b2-3.9 Firefox/3.1b2 StarDict in default GNOME environment doesn't play sound events and the most important it can't pronounce words. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install words pronunciation file WyabdcRealPeopleTTS from http://stardict.sourceforge.net/download.php or just install stardict-dictionaries-WyabdcRealPeopleTTS package from openSUSE Education project 2. Start stardict 3. Make sure that search path in Preferences dialog for WyabdcRealPeopleTTS is set correctly 4. Type "test" in combo box and invoke search Actual Results: "Pronounce a word" button was disabled Also no sound events were heard while performing any of actions inside StarDict window Expected Results: "Pronounce a word" button should be enabled and after its pressing "Test" word should be pronounced Also sound events should be heard when you move mouse cursor upon some of the enabled buttons The only way to enable sounds is starting esd sound server before running StarDict: esd& stardict But it means to reject PulseAudio sound server and manual modifying of the startup script -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
