http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1194314 Bug ID: 1194314 Summary: video devices not displayed with friendly name Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: dutchkind@txoriaskea.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- When I want to select one of my webcams to do a video conference I am presented with /dev/video0, video1 etc, the normal lowlevel device names. But it used to be, at least a few months ago, that the webcams were shown by their friendlier name like "HD Pro Webcam C920", which makes easier to select the correct one. I thought this was of my recent new installation of tumbleweed, but when I booted my old tumbleweed it had changed as well, now only showing lowlevel device names. In my opinion a regression from a user point of view. The plasma hardware info tab shows the friendly name, so it is still read by the system but not shown to v4l2-ctl and webcam applications. Has this been dropped or has this been changed so it can be activated again? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
