https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=346776 Summary: autofs hangs on shutdown Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: r.ems@gmx.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Hi all! In the case that a remote filesystem, previously mounted by autofs, is not reachable anymore (host is down), autofs hangs and the system shutdown does not continue. This is critical in our scenario, where we use a cluster with a front end and many calculation nodes. The front end has a UPS, the calculation nodes don't. The front end mounts filesystems from the calculation nodes using autofs. In the case of a power failure, the nodes are not reachable anymore, but the front end, connected to the UPS, waits for 5 minutes and then starts a shutdown. This shutdown then hangs on autofs, probably because the calculation nodes are not reachable anymore. The UPS runs out of battery and the front end turns off, without having done a clean shutdown, no filesystem sync, etc. Is this just a configuration problem? openSUSE-10.3 kernel-default-2.6.22.12-0.1 autofs-5.0.2-30.2 Richard Ems -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
