https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765794 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765794#c0 Summary: laptop sometimes does not suspend on lid being closed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: iateyourgranny@hotmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en) Presto/2.10.229 Version/11.64 When I close the lid on my laptop, the results are quite unpredictable. Sometimes it suspends the laptop quite fine, while at other times it gets stuck at a black screen with some text. The text says something about what is being closed, although it doesn't throw any errors. If you see this text, the laptop gets stuck and you can't do anything short of manually shutting it down, and the laptop fan goes on full speed. You can really feel the heat it makes. Once, I put the laptop in my bag with all that heat, but fortunately I took it out in about 5 minutes. If I had left it in there for any longer, it could have seriously damaged my laptop. So this issue needs to be fixed for opensuse to be useable. As an aside, on rare occasions the system gets stuck while shutting down as well. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Possibly have some programs open (not sure if it affects the outcome) 2. Close laptop lid 3. Wait, listen to laptop, if it doesn't go off, open lid to check what's happening Actual Results: Laptop is frozen Expected Results: Should have gone on suspend (sleep) mode -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
