https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808091 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808091#c0 Summary: yast2-printer: show user info if a firewall is active when setting up a network printer Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Milestone 2 Platform: All OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: ASSIGNED Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: jsmeix@suse.com ReportedBy: jsmeix@suse.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com CC: johanp@aditus.nu Found By: Development Blocker: No The YaST printer module shows user info when it seems a firewall is active for printing in the network setup and for print queue sharing setup. But the YaST printer module currently does not show user info when it seems a firewall is active when a printer device is set up that is connected via network. For the automated printer setup during installation no popup should be shown but in this case the proposal text may contain additional information if a firewall is active. When a network printer should be set up but a firewall is active it may happen that the firewall blocks network printer autodetection (e.g. some SNMP stuff might get blocked or whatever else). When a network printer should be used but a firewall is active it may happen that the firewall blocks to send data to it (e.g. some SNMP stuff might get blocked or whatever else). In particular the "hp" backend for CUPS may require some SNMP stuff or whatever kind of bidirectional stuff to work (in addition to plain unidirectional TCP data sending to port 9100 on the printer device).
