Not a bug - but a 'feature' (sadly)
We can't legally distribute patented codecs
I never had this issue on Ubuntu (actually, I think I had like 20 years ago) and I don't think they violate patents, so I guess they figured out some solution that you should copy (assuming their solution isn't patented - just kidding). I seem to remember they ask you on installation if you want to explicitly enable 3rd party repos, or something like that. Also, the error messages regarding missing codecs could give some clue to the user (including a command to copy and paste to fix the issue without having to investigate and/or waste time). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
