https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231083 ------- Comment #4 from jsmeix@novell.com 2007-01-02 05:57 MST ------- The text shown in YaST is helpful and clear. It helps the user not to waste his time with frustrating and useless attempts to get such a hardware running with what we provide out of the box in openSUSE. When we know about a particular model which is not supported by us, we want to have the user informed instead of leave him alone and let him try out various hopeless attempts e.g by selecting models with similar names which are actually incompatible, compare for example the supported PCL printer http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-EPL-6100 with the unsupported GDI printer http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-EPL-6100L What do you mean with "SuSE can't actually make it work. Even by installing the driver available at sourceforge"? We cannot have a software with license issues in openSUSE. Of course we also cannot download and/or install software with license issues from whatever external source. On the other hand you as an owner of an Epson EPL series printer can of course download and install this driver and then you can let the driver run in an openSUSE system but it must be you who downloads and installs software with possible license issues. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
