On my systems it happens after loading the kernel and initrd, therefore I would say it is not related to the bootloader but to the LUKS pass phrase dialogue included in the initrd. I am observing this on a system with grub and another one with grub2. Both systems were upgraded from 12.3 with zypper dup and in 12.3 had a simple graphical screen requesting the pass phrase. In 13.1 after the graphical grub* boot menu and after showing Loading kernel... Loading initrd... the screen is switched to text mode, the last lines displayed at this text screen are: Volume group "system" not found Volume group "system" not found Volume group "system" not found Volume group "system" not found *** Note: only US keyboard layout is supported. *** Please ensure that the password is typed correctly.
