Since the way of plugging the SIM card into the Lenovo laptop is not good documented (IMHO) I misplaced the SIM into the slot. After that I have reached the same state as Richard concerning NetworkManager. And with a little help from my friend I have setup a wvdial.conf which seems to work fine.
