https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1229449 Bug ID: 1229449 Summary: ssh x11 forwarding unusably slow Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.6 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: bugz57@top.geek.nz QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- Running graphical applications via ssh over the LAN used to be easy and workable until Leap 15.5 but has become unusable with Leap 15.6. Past: host15.5> ssh -Y host15.4 ... host15.4> nedit (open 10 files here) & Or test with xterm: host15.4> xterm Hey even firefox works fine except on sites with too much animated &^#)@^H^H^Hbloat: host15.4> firefox & Now: host15.6> ssh -Y host15.4 ... host15.4:> nedit (open 10 files here) & (Now takes 30+ seconds instead of 2 just to open, end editing is very laggy.) It appears to be caused by openssh 9.6 of Leap 15.6. host15.6> /tmp/ssh-copied-from-leap-15.4-usr_bin_ssh -F/dev/null -Y host15.4 ... host15.4> (starting nedit with 10 files, xterm, or firefox now has essentially undetectable delays) I can't find settings for Ciphers or KexAlgorithms that make ssh-8.4 slow, or ssh-9.6 fast, on Leap 15.6 for above X11 applications running on Leap 15.4 via ssh. What is going on, and how can this be fixed? The cause seems to be located inside the ssh binary but not as simple as ciphers. Both ssh-8.4/9.6 running on Leap 15.6 are using the 15.6 system libraries. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
