http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559509 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559509#c0 Summary: lsreipl does not give any output when system was booted from an NSS Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: S/390-64 OS/Version: SLES 11 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mikemac@us.ibm.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) On a system that was booted from a minidisk, this new command works: # lsreipl -v lsreipl: Linux on System z shutdown actions version 1.8.0 (1.0) Copyright IBM Corp. 2008. gpok226:~ # lsreipl Re-IPL type: ccw Device: 0.0.0100 Loadparm: However, on a system that was booted from an NSS (Named Saved System - an in-memory construct on z/VM that can be IPLed), lsreipl gives no output: # lsreipl -v lsreipl: Linux on System z shutdown actions version 1.8.0 (1.0) Copyright IBM Corp. 2008. # lsreipl Note that there is no file /sys/firmware/ipl/device: # ls /sys/firmware/ipl ipl_type loadparm name parm However there is a file /sys/firmware/ipl/name: # cat /sys/firmware/ipl/name S11LNX1 In fact this system was booted with the command "IPL S11LNX1". So lsreipl should probably also look at this file if the "device" file is not present. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a Linux system under z/VM that boots from an NSS. 2. Issue the "lsreipl" command. 3. Actual Results: lsreipl gives no output Expected Results: lsreipl should have printed S11LNX1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
