https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=793403 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=793403#c0 Summary: Clock setting/getting time - conflicting settings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: drt781@yahoo.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- The KDE control module for automatic time fetching and the Yast2 module are in conflict. As a result, the KDE module claims to be providing a way to automatically fetch the correct time from a timeserver, but it does't work. There are two ways to get time from a timeserver in OpenSuse 12.2/ default KDE desktop, for the clock in the corner. The KDE control module and Yast2. Click on the clock in the desktop panel, and that will send you do the KDE control module. On my i586 OpenSuse 12.2 machine, the KDE settings did not override the Yast2 settings, and my time was 10 minutes off on my laptop for a long time and I couldn't figure out how to get it to automatically draw from a timeserver, the way the KDE control module says it will. I recently tried approaching from the Yast2 side, and those settings were very different (KDE said it was obtaining from timeserver, while Yast said it wasn't). Changed Yast, turned off the KDE automatic settings and now it works. These two systems should be merged somehow; settings changed in one should be reflected in the other; timeserver options in KDE control module should be used, if inputted. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
