Basically, that upstream said, is that the BIOS or hardware in general does this and it shouldn't (cheap hardware, broken firmware, broken BIOS, etc). I don't exactly agree with an implementation that can break at any time due to hardware, but I wasn't the one casting votes for this. At the moment, a user can create a persistent rule, based on the mac addresses of the nic's and it would work quite OK, but the setup must be done manually. I, honestly, not sure what direction to take here, bring back something that is not supported, but works for normal users (doesn't work with virtual functions, igb and ixgbe modules, breaks everything) or leave it alone and close it as UPSTREAM.
