https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=265008 Summary: encrypted xfs partitions cannot be repaired Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: keith.buck@hp.com QAContact: qa@suse.de My encrypted xfs partition became corrupted (resume after suspend hung, had to hard power cycle a few times, and this could have been part of the reason why it became corrupted). Apparently there is no way to repair it. Things I tried (based on google searches, etc.): fsck.xfs - according to man page, does nothing, successfully :( xfs_repair - requires partition to be unmounted, but when unmounted the partition is still encrypted, so it cannot find the superblock. Tried xfs_repair /dev/loop1 # superblock read failed xfs_repair /dev/hda8 # bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!! xfs_repair /path # Cannot open /path: Is a directory yast2 repair utility - does not recognize filesystem type. Although I am currently using Suse 10.0, I believe this also applies to 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 beta (and non-Suse distros). I couldn't find anything leading me to a solution. At the very least, there should have been a warning about this when I clicked on encrypted partition for xfs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
