https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223586 Summary: X server in Xen Domain-0 crashed after about 1 day Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: chuller@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: aj@novell.com Description: The X server in Domain-0 on my testmaschine crashed about one day after i had the machie installed, xen kernel booted and one VM installed. I was just starting the YaST2 Xen module when the screen got black and i found myself at the login screen soon after. The running virtual machine was not affected and continued running without problems. Hardware was a Dell Poweredge 840, i will attach a hwinfo and the whole log dir to that bug as i'm not sure what exactly helps with such a problem. Howto Repeat: o install 10.2 RC1 on a x86 machine (preferable Dell Poweredge 840) - use LVM bassed proposal for partitioning - enable remote admistration in the installation - do not select the xen pattern for installation o after system installation has finished, install the xen pattern - run the YaST2 Xen module to get the xen krernel booted by default - fix the xen entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst (its broken) o reboot to xen kernel o install a virtual machine - paravirtualised - 512mb ram, 8gb disk - use network install source to install from o after vm got installed, let the system run for around 24h o then start YaST2 again and try to launch the YaST2 xen module => system crashed I guess the howto repeat does not have to be executed exactly like described, it's just exactly what i did here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
