https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=846401 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=846401#c0 Summary: no netcat-traditional / GNU netcat anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tito.neuschafer@trashmail.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 A few openSUSE releases ago, netcat-openbsd replaced the traditional netcat (with a different CLI!) by default, but the latter could at least still be installed. Now, even this package has vanished. There is no other netcat package around, neither the (patched) traditional UNIX nor the (compatible) GNU version. Here is what OpenBSD netcat (nc) reports when using the parameters exclusive to traditional netcat, e.g. "-p": "This is nc from the netcat-openbsd package. An alternative nc is available in the netcat-traditional package." However, there is no such package in the openSUSE repos. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. netcat -l -p 1234 Actual Results: netcat exits with the above error (and returns 1) Expected Results: bind to port 1234 and listen in TCP mode -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
