However.. As you suspected in an earlier comment there definitively something wrong with tls/certificate/encryption: as soon as I comment out the lines "tls_cacertdir" and "tls_cacertfile", yast samba module is working again! I have change the perms to root:root on the /etc/openldap/cacerts dir where all the certificates are stored but still have the issue.
