Unfortunately the settings are lost after logoff and redoing it every time has a certain suckiness. I can only make the settings permanent by using sax2, but I've been told elsewhere https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=555882 that this option will go away soon. Apparently it also works on gnome.
