In the previous attempt I had tried out kernel-pae by accident, and had the problems with many conflicts. I rebooted using the new kernel: Linux savitri 3.7.2-1-debug #1 SMP Fri Jan 11 19:17:27 UTC 2013 (af76f80) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux but still cannot play sound. I still have to mute the sound because it makes a clicking noise about every second.
