--- Comment #3 from Rob Janssen 2011-09-14 15:46:41 UTC ---
I have done further testing.
I upgraded a physical system on the same network to 11.4, and I installed a
fresh system with 11.4 under VMware.
On both these systems I cannot reproduce the problem.
What I do notice is that VMware, although I installed 64-bit openSUSE and
indicated the system is a "Other 2.6x 64-bit" system, displays the system as
32-bit once it is powered on and running.
I also noticed another hang in synchronize_rcu on the upgraded system, namely
when YaST performs a detection just after selecting the Kernel Configuration
function.
But the callstack is different.
For now I guess it is an interoperation problem between Linux and the VMware
version we are running, but I have no idea how to solve it as it does seem to
affect the upgraded 11.2 system but not the freshly created 11.4 system, which
has the same setup under VMware.
It seems more and more likely it is not a specific NFS bug.
