https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732251 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732251#c0 Summary: glibc-locale is auto installed because its needed by yast2-ncurses and man packages Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell-web@zmi.at QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 I've had my system speak german with my because the packages man and yast2-ncurses have "glib-locale" as dependency. It might be nice for some admins to have their system use their locale, but they should install it when they want it. At least, this shouldn't return an error: # rpm -e glibc-locale error: Failed dependencies: glibc-locale is needed by (installed) yast2-ncurses-2.21.4-3.1.3.x86_64 glibc-locale is needed by (installed) man-2.5.2-37.1.2.x86_64 glibc-locale is needed by (installed) yast2-ncurses-pkg-2.21.2-1.1.2.x86_64 I suggesting removing the dependency, and admins wanting it should install glibc-locale manually.
