http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604603 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604603#c0 Summary: KDE 1 CD cannot create or mount encrypted partitions in yast even AFTER post install bootup. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dtksxeb02@sneakemail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100417 SUSE/3.6.4-1.1 Firefox/3.6.4 Apparently files needed to actually mount encrypted partitions are missing from the kde 1 cd for milestone 6. I attempted to encrupt the root drive with no home partition using LVM and received errors....it also would not mount /dev/sdb1 which was an already created 500gb ext4 drive that normally mounts to /workarea.......it kept telling me the passwords did not match in yast. Even after reboot yast continued to say the passwords did not match....finally I dropped to command line and did a manual mount /dev/sdb1 /workarea and after entering same password used all along it mounted it correctly. I added the mount command to boot.local as a workaround. In fedora 12 having an excrypted system is one checkbox during install...in opensuse we've gone from opensuse 11.0 to 11.3 and still can't get this to work right...thats why regretfully my laptops that travel with me use fedora 12 and not opensuse. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Try to create a lvm setup during install using kde 1 cd. 2. 3. Actual Results: Get a 3030 error on the creation...if you continue the install fails when trying to copy the root image. Expected Results: Main swap and root partion should have been encrypted. I reported the same unable to create issues with 11.2 and 11.1 and was basically told something along the lines "we can only fit so much on the floppies"........but my understanding was we just came up with new encryption methods that allow fitting alot more data to the same disc...how long will "encryption" have the stigma of only being for the "paranoid" -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
