https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780623 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780623#c0 Summary: grub2 postinstall script adds unusable menu entry to grub legacy Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: arvidjaar@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 I updated from 12.1 to 12.2 using "zypper dup". After update was finished, I found menu entry for GRUB2 in GRUB1 menu.lst, but it was unusable. Grubs postinstall script creates entry pointing to /boot/grub2/core.img, but grub2-install creates core.img under /boot/grub2/i386-pc (or more general ${grub_modinfo_target_cpu}-$grub_modinfo_platform). On the related note, preuninstall script also does not take into account architecture subdirectories and tries to remove stuff from /boot/grub2 and not from /boot/grub2/i386-pc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install GRUB2 on system with GRUB1 2. Try to invoke GRUB2 from GRUB1 bootloader menu 3. Actual Results: Nothing is booted (file is not found) Expected Results: GRUB2 is invoked -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
