https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=327510 Summary: r8169 no change of speed Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mbra@gmx.ch QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hardware: Netgear GA511 (Gigabit PC Card) 16:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) The module r8169.ko will be automatically loaded. The card works, but only at 100MBit, even when connected to a 1GBit Switch. Also it is not possible to change the speed with ethtool down to 10 or up to 1000 MBit. Also changing duplex and autoneg settings will be ignored. Example: ethtool -s eth1 speed 10 autoneg off duplex half ethtool eth1 Settings for eth1: Supported ports: [ TP ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 100Mb/s Duplex: Full Port: Twisted Pair PHYAD: 0 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Supports Wake-on: pumbg Wake-on: g Current message level: 0x00000033 (51) Link detected: yes Nothing changed! Nothing added to /var/log/messages But when I use the old r1000 module instead (compiled the source), it works!
