The onboard card is seen in 'lspci' as: 07:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Device 4381 (rev 11) The sky2 driver loads but does not enable the NIC. The NIC in question is found in a Samsung R580 Arrendale-based notebook and will most likely be appering in newer platforms increasingly. There is a already some tentative support for the 88E8059 in the forthcoming 2.6.33 kernel as part of a sky2 driver. Is there any chance of backporting the patch for the 88E8059 this into 2.6.31-line kernel in openSUSE 11.2 when stable 2.6.33 is finally released? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run 'yast network' to configure the 88E8059 ethernet adapter. 2. Try to load the sky2 driver with 'modprobe sky2'. 3. Check 'ifconfig -a' for the onboard ethernet adapter. Actual Results: 1. Yast does not allow to configure the 88E8059 ethernet adapter. 2. Loading the driver manually with 'modprobe sky2' does not enable the adapter. 3. 'ifconfig -a' does not list the adapter once the sky2 driver is loaded. Expected Results: 1. Yast recognises the adapter & configures the sky2 driver. 2. Loading the sky2 driver enables the card. 3. The adapter is listed in 'ifconfig -a' -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
