In all cases, if hangs just after: Loading CPUFreq modules (CPUFreq not supported) The machine has an ATI video controller. 1) With the VESA driver: It hangs with no message Disabling earlyxdm results in the boot completing, but then just the line: Starting service kdm done Then session 7 is a black screen.
