https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467917 Summary: Wireless (iwl3945) unable to connect on battery power with NetworkManager Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: stijn@vannieuwenhuyse.eu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.1; Linux) KHTML/4.1.96 (like Gecko) SUSE NetworkManager is unable to connect to the wireless network after a cold boot on battery power. I can get it to connect by reloading the wireless driver (rmmod iwl3945 && modprobe iwl3945). After a cold boot on ac power the wireless connects fine. After a boot on battery power, the module has to be reloaded before the NetworkManager wants to connect. It does not suffice to plug in the ac adapter. I can reproduce this problem with NetworkManager-kde and NetworkManager-kde4. The network I try to connect to is has WPA2-PSK security enabled. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot on batter power. 2. Log in and check if NetworkManager is able to connect to the network. 3. NetworkManager should connect to the wireless network. Actual Results: NetworkManager is unable to set up a connection. Expected Results: NetworkManager connects to the wireless network.
