However, after dup (after about a month of not updating, so not sure when the regression happened), the following occurs: 1) The app starts up fine, and you can log into your Proton VPN account. 2) When you connect to any VPN server, by any method (quick connect, or by specifying a server) the app will display an "Unexpected Error" pop-up, included in the screenshot. There is also some output to the console when running the app from the command line (included in screenshot). The app will hang at this point. 3) After closing the app after the crash/hang, network connectivity is broken. Trying to ping www.google.com gives "Temporary failure in name resolution". No VPN shows as connected in Network Manager, and restarting the network interface from the Network Manager GUI has no effect.
