But that is the last beep I can obtain. Commands like "echo ^G" or "echo -e '\a'", or trying to backspace past the start of line produce no bell. Setting an xterm to visible well displays the bell properly but in the normal mode there is no sound. Playing the test sound from yast's sound module works properly.
