To check the membership a simple call of the program id(1) should show all groups which the user is part of.
uid=1000(toganm) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),494(wheel),497(mail)
plus getent groups says
users:x:100:games
Unless I understand differently all users are member of the games group so it is not necessary for an user to be specifically member of the games group as it should be inherited.
Maybe my understanding is not correct just for the sake of curiosity I added myself to the games group and the error message is gone -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
