https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=340408#c1 --- Comment #1 from Felix Miata <mrmazda@ij.net> 2007-11-08 21:54:50 MST --- Upon understanding http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/grub#How_does_a_PC_boot_.2F_How_can_I_set_up_a_w... you should know that it is recommended for Grub to be installed to a primary partition and generic code to be installed in the MBR. If you follow this recommendation, but use makeactive against the Windows partition, you'll be transferring the boot process directly to Windows, bypassing Grub, which will leave you with a system that easily can boot Windows, but cannot boot SUSE until the active partition is restored to the one containing Grub. Windows does not need to be the active primary partition, and when installed alongside SUSE as recommended, it should not be the active partition before you have configured the Windows bootloader to chainload to Grub. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
