Can you try a newer kernel from Kernel:HEAD repository ?
I have installed the latest Kernel from Kernel:HEAD repo the output from cat /proc/version is: Linux version 2.6.39-rc4-10-default (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.5.1 20101208 [gcc-4_5-branch revision 167585] (SUSE Linux) ) #1 SMP 2011-04-22 00:02:11 +0200 I rebooted the PC, logged in with the new kernel, ran software manager in yast and selected acroread for install.
