I booted with the XenPAE kernel again, went to runlevel 5, logged in to graphic mode, and successfully loaded a virtual machine. Of course, the machine won't reboot, because the kernel on my original 10.3 media getting loaded into domU appears to be incompatible with the dom0 kernel... ERROR (2,'Invalid kernel','xc_dom_compat_check: guest type xen-3.0-x86_32 not supported by Xen kernel, sorry\n') but I assume I can hack around that somehow. So I can at least load machines now, and hopefully get them to work, which is farther than I got before... However, I can also still duplicate this current bug, and that worries me, because I wonder if my virtual machines, when under high network load during operation, might cause a server halt, thus halting ALL the virtual machines on the server plus the server itself plus my ability to remote restart them. In other words, I wonder if this bug is related to the network, and NOT to just the installation per se. I'm therefore more than happy, and anxious, to continue working on this bug with you all, if there is interest, and I will continue to do whatever I can to help. Specifically, next on my list is to: 1. Figure out how to install via ISO image and try that 2. Try doing this through the loopback interface instead of the eth0 public IP address, and see if that works? I'll try that under xenpae and straight xen, if you feel it would help? 3. Reload the host in 64-bit mode, and try all these things again under that mode? This will take some time, but I'm happy to try if it is desired. Or, since I can now load machines the other way, if you want to stop, that's your call. I'll also mention that, as I said, this physical host is not doing anything else. And it is directly on the internet. So I can easily set up a login account - and provide root access - to this machine if there is any interest or desire on the part of Novell/others to get in and check things out directly. It would be my pleasure to do that, or anything else needed, to help resolve this. So if I hear nothing back by Tuesday - which is when I'm in the office next - I will continue with the list as I understand it.
