https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=709863 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=709863#c0 Summary: [i845G] KDE hangs before startup completes without compositing disabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mrmazda@earthlink.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- KDE was working apparently fine with M3's 4.6.x and upstream workspace, session, etc theming, even after updating to 4.7. Then I decided to start fresh by removing most content from ~/, leaving .mc, .fonts, .mozilla, .bashrc, etc. so that for X purposes only the user would be brand new. After that, neither login from KDM nor startx would open KDE all the way up, hanging with a black screen after the default KDE splash got about half way through. The hang disables the keyboard entirely, forcing fixup via ssh login or power switch. Eventually I thought to try creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-composite.conf containing: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection Now KDE 4.7 works. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
