https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488644 Summary: windows domain memberships: unauthorized installs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- windows domain memberships: unauthorized installs I run Yast, WDM, and the dialog was shown that the samba-client-32bit is needed. a) first of all, why 32bit on 64 system? b) second -- maybe user could decide if she/he would like to install anything extra? c) thanks to dependencies, bunch of ghostscript packages were installed, libpng, I don't know what else, everything without single question if I allow to do this Of course this actions were taken without even thinking/noticing that maybe I, the user, have already installed newer versions of those libs, or maybe I don't want them in my system (for some good reason). Behaving like a malware is not the way it should be done. User should be informed (fully) what is going to be installed and user should be asked if she/he wants to all that stuff to be installed (just like in SM, so user could install, protect, taboo, etc. some packages). Much simpler solution -- just inform user what should be installed, and let the user install it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
