https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731758 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731758#c0 Summary: no sound with phonon (KDE and Gnome), but YaST2-Sound plays testsound Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@suse.com ReportedBy: thomas.frick@salvysion.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 After upgrading from openSUSE 11.4 to 12.1 neither Gnome nor KDE can playback sound. Phonon is reporting that the sounddevice is no longer existing and switches to default. But when I test the soundcard hardware using YaST2-Sound, the test sound can be played, it's all OK. So it seems that ALSA is OK, but Phonon has lost it's connection to ALSA. What can I do? My hardware: GigaByte M750SLI-DS4 mainboard, nVidia MCP7xxx high definition audio, running with driver snd_hda_intel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 12.1 on a PC having GA-M750SLI-DS4 mainboard or other board having nVidia's MCP7xxx-HDA soundchip. 2. Try to playback sound in KDE or Gnome (Phonon) -> it won't play. 3. Run testsound in YaST2-Sound (ALSA) -> sound is played back. Actual Results: No sound in KDE or Gnome. Expected Results: It should playback sound in KDE and Gnome, not only in YaST2-Sound. Sound was fine in previous version 11.4 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
