https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779547 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779547#c0 Summary: emacs-x11 should not depend on particular font packages Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: holgerar@googlemail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 The emacs-x11 package currently depends on the following font packages: efont-unicode, ifnteuro, xorg-x11-fonts, xorg-x11-fonts-core. As a consequence, installing Emacs on a default openSUSE install pulls in efont-unicode-bitmap-fonts, which is a 23MB download, even though many Emacs users will never need these fonts. This dependencies should be removed. A user who installs emacs-x11 will already have some fonts installed. The meaning of the "Requires:" field in an RPM spec is "the package does not work without the other package being installed", which is not the case here.
