Using 6.x, when first shutting down to reboot into the older kernel, the bug prevented a normal shutdown. That argues, to me, that if this weren't a kernel issue I would have bumped into it by now, using 5.19, but I'll continue using the older kernel over the week-end and report back if anything changes.
