Though I disabled the password for the kde-screensaver in "system settings", powerdevil was actively monitoring the system (though, as it is a desktop computer, I never ever configured it). Therefore the screen was locked after the predefined time within powerdevil. Disabling this solved the issue - the only thing I really do not understand ist why powerdevil would be actively doing anything though not being told to do so. Thank you for looking into this, maybe you want to keep this for the records.
