The man page is *very* unclear in this point: -b hostalias Uses bind(2) on the local socket to bind it to an aliased address (see ifconfig(8) and the ``alias'' specifier) And in the "ifconfig" man page there is no alias explained. For me, this wording sounds like it wants an interface, not an ip address.
