http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1153035 Bug ID: 1153035 Summary: kexec documentation is misleading regarding --append Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE Factory Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation Assignee: fs@suse.com Reporter: jbohac@suse.com QA Contact: adrian@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- The documentation at https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/tuning/html/book.sle.tuning/cha.... is a misleading. It says: It is helpful to include the command line of the production kernel if these options are necessary for the kernel to boot. You can simply copy the command line with --append="$(cat /proc/cmdline)" or add more options with --append="$(cat /proc/cmdline) more_options". The word "helpful" should be replaced by something like "required" or "necessary" (but that is used later in the sentence...) If the options are necessary, which is always the case with SUSE kernels, it just won't work without it, so helpful is very weak. Here a partner got puzzled by this: bsc#1151016 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
