The blacklisting of the udl modules helps user to complete the installation while the secondary displaylink monitor is attached.
However, it does not enable the displaylink monitor.
After installation, rebooting the system without boot parameter of 'module_blacklist=udl' does get the secondary displaylink monitor display turn on.
Ok. I think here the displayamnager GDM runs in Wayland mode (both monitors working).
But User will not be able to login to Desktop due to 'Wayland' as mentioned in comment#27.
For the session a Xserver is being started, which then fails due to Displaylink. Xserver crashes.
In summary, we looking to address 2 issues here (1) installation successful even with displaylink monitor attached (WORK OUT OF BOX without the manual interference of disable then enable udl module)
(2) login successful without Wayland. (why Wayland a mandatory for server installation to support displaylink monitor?)
(2) is a followup to (1) due to Xserer crash with Displaylink. GDM login screen still runs in Wayland mode. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
