The problem appears to be the same as the one reported here https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53071 I've been able to use the workaround described here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1087010/comments/4 to address the problem on a temporary basis (I had to disable the same entry as this user). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. No special action required. Actual Results: Well over 90% CPU utilisation by kworker Expected Results: No significant cpu load from kworker.
