The last version still functional is qemu-ovmf-x86_64|202402-1.1. Both the 2.1 and 3.1 prevent qemu from loading the VM.
Simplified repro steps:
Download https://dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/v3.20/releases/x86_64/alpine-standard- 3.20.3-x86_64.iso
Try to run the ISO with
``` qemu-system-x86_64 -m 2048 -cdrom alpine-standard-3.20.3-x86_64.iso -boot d -drive if=pflash,format=raw,readonly=on,file=/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m-code.bin ```
Hi Jan The above command only gives code part of firmware is not a good idea. Please use unify image ovmf-x86_64-4m.bin: qemu-system-x86_64 -m 2048 -cdrom alpine-standard-3.20.3-x86_64.iso -boot d \ -drive if=pflash,format=raw,readonly=on,file=/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m.bin Of also give vars part: cp /usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m-vars.bin /usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m-vars-test.bin qemu-system-x86_64 -m 2048 -cdrom alpine-standard-3.20.3-x86_64.iso -boot d \ -drive if=pflash,format=raw,readonly=on,file=/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m-code.bin \ -drive if=pflash,format=raw,readonly=on,file=/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x86_64-4m-vars-test.bin -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
